FBR to start strict action against smugglers‏

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken field formation collectorate and customs intelligence on board to curb smuggling of various contraband items causing billion of rupees loss to national exchequer.

According to the sources, borders areas adjacent to Afghanistan cars, cloths, tea, tyres and chemicals including other items are being smuggled into the Pakistani cities.

FBR and Customs Intelligence and Investigation planned to start joint operations against various contraband items and non duty paid vehicles across the country as well as the culprits involved in it.

Previously FBR authorities had received bundle of complaints regarding the smuggling of contraband items from the bordering areas of Afghanistan causing billion of rupees colossal loss to the country.

Chief Collector Appraisement South Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, Collectors Fields Formation, Appraisement East, Appraisement West, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Director Custom Intelligence Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, Director Customs Intelligence Enforcement Yaqoob Makoo will soon leave for Islamabad for the meeting in this regard, source added.
