Railways to install CCTV cameras in trains to curb smuggling

MULTAN:  The Pakistan Railways has decided to install security cameras on the request of the Customs Department to curb the menace of smuggling in the region.

The Customs Intelligence and Anti-smuggling Organization has requested the Pakistan Railway to extend their  cooperation to curb smuggling which is rampant in southern Punjab.

The Customs Department requested Deputy Superintendent Zafar Ali Kalhore to check movement of cargo through railway service in order to thwart attempts of smuggling. The Pakistan Railways has decided to install security cameras in the power van because smugglers were found involved in using trains for carrying their smuggling goods.

The Pakistan Railways is going to install cameras in the trains which are coming from Quetta and Peshawar to curtail smuggling through railway service. In the first stage security cameras will be installed in the Bahaudin Zakariya Express under security strategy to curb smuggling in the region.
