FBR to take action against 300 govt employees for not declaring assets

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced to bring as many as 300 government officials, belonging to different federal departments, to task for not declaring their assets as per the policy announced by the FBR.

According to the senior FBR officials, these 300 senior officials (from Grade 11 to Grade 22) had been serving in different federal departments (including highways, passport, NADRA,  Wapda,  SNGPL, PTCL, customs, FBR, Utility Stores Corporation, Sports, Pakistan Postal Services Corporation, Finance, Pakistan Railways, banks, trade and industries) in Gujranwala division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad districts and they were still reluctant to declare their assets before the FBR, despite the repeated notices issued to them by FBR, in this regard.

Senior FBR officials added that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other investigation agencies have already compiled the fresh lists of these senior officials, who have not yet declared assets as well.

The FBR has decided to bring these officials to task, in this regard. As per the FBR rule and regulation, all the officials were bound to declare their assets before the FBR till the 30th June of every fiscal year.

The officials added that the FBR will stop the job allowances of these 300 senior officials within next couple of days for not declaring their assets in the first phase of action against them and their salaries would also be stopped in the second phase, in this regard.
