KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is gearing up to take strict action against tax defaulters. Well-informed sources within the FBR told this scribe that defaulters will be black-listed and they will also face registration suspension.
Sources further revealed that the FBR is going to introduce a new mechanism that will definitely enhance the compliance ratio of sales tax. Source said that defaulters who are ignoring repeated reminders sent by the FBR regarding clearing of sales tax arrears will face a tough time. But the persons who are not paying sales tax from a few months will be pursued through notices, asking them to deposit the sales tax at the earliest.
Sources said that action will start in the last week of the current fiscal year 2015-16.
