FBR withdraws exemption of 1% additional CD on import of 1800cc vehicles

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has withdrawn exemption of one percent additional customs duty on import of old and used vehicles above 180cc following the imposition of new regulatory duty through SRO 1035(I)/2017.

A circular has been issued by the Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement South stating that in consequence of suppression of notification No. SRO 482(I)/2009 dated June 13, 2009 vide notification No. SRO 1035(I)/2017 dated October 16, 2017, the exception to the levy of additional customs duty under Notification SRO 1178(I)/2015 dated November 30, 2015 on import of old and used vehicles above 1800cc (serial number (n) thereof) is no more available with effect from October 17, 2017.

“Consequently, pending corresponding change in WeBOC system, it is hereby directed that assessing officer shall ensure the imposition and collection of additional customs duty at the rate of one percent on the said vehicles by using the additional levy option in the WeBOC system,” the circular said.

It further directed assistant collectors/additional collectors of concerned groups to check and recovery the additional customs duty on such goods declaration already processed.
