FBR’s delegation to meet Swiss authorities for amending taxation treaty

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has directed the team going to Norway for OECD membership, to visit Switzerland in order to hold negotiations regarding the amendment in double taxation treaty.

Earlier, a two-member team, comprising  BR International Taxes Secretary Tariq Burki and International Taxes Chief Muhammad Iqbal, was selected to hold meeting with the OECD representatives but now another member, Special Assistant Zubair Tiwana has been included in the team. Zubair Tiwana will leave for Switzerland on Wednesday (today)

It may mention here that FBR International Taxes Secretary Tariq Burki is already in Oslo, while International Taxes Chief Muhammad Iqbal will reach today.

After having meeting with OECD, the delegation will go to Switzerland where it will discuss the proposed amendment in article 26 of double taxation treaty.

Pakistan could get information about the Pakistanis stashing money in Swiss banks with this amendment. It may mention here that Switzerland has already signed such kind of agreements with US, Britain and other countries.
