A well-placed source  at the RTO while talking to Customs Today on Thursday said that the RTO II had achieved the assigned target. He said that during the first four month of current fiscal year more than 2,500 new taxpayers had been added to the tax net. He said the RTO had more marriage halls, hotels etc in its jurisdictions, while staff of the department is working hard to bring potential taxpayers into tax net to follow the broadening policy of the FBR. He said, “We struggle to facilitate the taxpayers to bring them at comfort level.”

It is important to mention that the RTO-II collected RS 7.14 billion income tax during the first quarter (July-September) of the current year which was almost 10 percent more than the same period of the last year.  The RTO-II collected Rs 6.88 billion sales tax during July-September of current fiscal year which was almost 32 percent more than the same period of last year. On the other hand, Rs 70 million as federal excise duty (FED) was collected that was 23 percent more than the last year’s first quarter.
