FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz has welcomed the inauguration of Khanewal- Multan section of motorway M-4.

In a statement issued here today, he said that present government was heavily investing on infrastructure and energy projects, which are considered as prerequisite to spur economic activities in the country. He particularly welcomed the construction of motorways and erection of power plants and said that these two factors could alone contribute in a big way to make Pakistan most favourable country for local as well as direct foreign investment.

He said that PML-N government had initiated mega project of motorways during its previous tenure but its successor governments failed to continue the tempo of progress and prosperity. Unluckily, during that tenure terrorism flourished along with the menace of load shedding that is now hunting the Pakistani economy.

He said that it is very encouraging that the PML-N government once again has started work on motorways and energy projects with a renewed vigor. He said that inauguration of Khanewal-Multan Motorway was the follow-up of the ground breaking ceremony of Gojra-Shorkot section of M-4 and would link textile capital of Pakistan with southern Punjab. He hoped that remaining portion of this motorway would also be undertaken very soon to connect entire Pakistan with port city of Karachi and Gawadar.

He further said that the linking of M-4 with Karachi will facilitate not only the passenger traffic but also made transportation of exportable goods easy and speedy. He said that these projects would also generate much needed job opportunities in addition to attracting foreign investors. He congratulated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and requested Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to ensure early completion of this motorway so that its fruits could be tricked down to the masses and business community.
