ISLAMABAD: Notwithstanding with the lawful obligations of concerned authorities, the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) is functioning without a chairman as the Ministry of Law and Justice is in doldrums to appoint a new chairman.
Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Farooq, who was de-notified a couple of days ago, relinquished his charge, accepting the ministry’s notification.
According to the Federal Service Tribunal Act (amended), 2014, the Ministry of Law and Justice was obligated to transfer the charge of the chairman to the senior most member of the tribunal. However, the ministry did not notify replacement of Sheikh Ahmed Farooq (former chairman) due to unknown reasons.
In the meantime, the FST continued performing without the chairman. “The state of affairs at one of the constitutional body, formed to oversee services matters, is undergoing disruptions,” an FST top officials said.
