Fesco may declare NTN compulsory for consumers

FAISALABAD: The board of directors of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has considered declaring the National Tax Number (NTN) compulsory for prospective consumers of all tariffs.

Presiding over the 149/37th meeting of the BoD on Sunday, Chairman BoD Khurram Mukhtar said as per corporate culture and in order to enhance the tax pace, Fesco should also play its role in generating revenue for the government.

He reviewed the policy for new electricity connections and observed that Fesco was already collecting 40% of taxes for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from this region.

In this connection, different aspects of new electricity connection policy were discussed in the meeting and Risk Management Committee was directed to formulate a workable policy especially in cooperating the NTN for the prospective consumers.

The Risk Management Committee will also take up this issue with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) after its final nod before its implementation. Chief Executive Officer Fesco Rasheed Ahmed Aslam, Directors of the board Ch. Javed Kamal, Abdul Hameed Ch, Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, Noor Ahmed, Rana Ahsan Afzal and Company Secretary Masood Salahudin were also present.
