SIALKOT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided at village Glotiyaan More-Daska and busted a four-member well-organized gang of accused selling the mobile phone SIMS to the illegal gateway telephone exchanges.
According to the senior FIA officials, a former police constable accused Zia Kaleem was the ring leader of this gang. FIA arrested this ring leader and three other accused, besides, recovering the bio matric devices, the hundreds of the mobile phone sims and other equipments from there.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused told the FIA investigation officers that they used to get the computerized national identity card numbers (CNIC) of the innocent people by asking them that their names had been drawn in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and later they get mobile phone sims on these CNIC numbers, besides, selling these sims to illegal gateway telephone exchanges at the rate of Rs.1000 per sim.
The FIA officials added that the gate way telephone exchanges had also used these sims in making international telephone calls, while some criminals were also using these sims sold out by the said busted gang.
Meanwhile, a local judicial magistrate Muhammad Jamil Bhatti granted two-day physical remand of the accused to the FIA, in this case. On the other hand, the FIA team also aided at New Noshera near Jalalpur Jattan and unearthed illegal gateway exchange fom there. FIA also arrested accused Shahid Nisar for running this illegal exchange
