FIA foils attempt to smuggle foreign currency at Lahore airport

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large amount foreign currency at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Sources told Customs Today that a passenger namely Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmad, son of Sheikh Muhammad Umar, holding passport# CS1155674, was travelling from Lahore to Dubai by flight no EK-625 on December 7, 2016. He was in possession of foreign currency approximately equal to $11,000. The passenger was a frequent traveler and had 42 departure and arrival stamps on his passport during 2016.
