FIA puts 92 human traffickers on most wanted list

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has added 92 alleged human smugglers and travel agents to its most wanted list.

According to a senior official, the FIA’s Immigration Wing issued a fresh edition of the ‘Red Book’ of the most wanted human traffickers, proclaimed offenders and court absconders who have been involved in illegal immigration, human trafficking and human smuggling.

Of these 92 human smugglers, 13 belong to Lahore, 20 from Gujranwala, and three each from Faisalabad and Multan. The Red Book also contains the names of 18 human smugglers who were declared proclaimed offenders, six of whom are from Islamabad and 12 from Karachi.

It also contains the names of 13 proclaimed offenders, including a woman, who have left the country. Of these, five have settled in the UAE or the UK, two in Iran, two in Thailand and one each in Turkey, Guinea and Russia.

The FIA official said the agency was trying to secure the arrests of these wanted human smugglers in order to bring them to justice and that the government has taken several steps for combating this crime and protecting the rights of the victims.
