Five ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships C.V New Ark, C.V Northern Monument, M.T Pacific Panama, Mid Nature and M.T Maran Gas Ascipeius carrying containers, Furnace oil, Phosphoric Acid and LNG were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile four more ships with Palm oil and Chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.  Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at 69% on Tuesday where a total of eleven ships namely, New Ark, Northern Monument, MSC Algeciras, Eternal Trumph, Nord Leader, Calipso, Mid Nature, Maran Gas Asclepius, Cerulean, NCC Maha and M.T Pacific Panama were occupied PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemicals, General Cargo, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.  A cargo volume of 137,185 tonnes, comprising 109,255 tonnes import cargo and 27,930 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,766 containers TUEs) 1,296 imports TUEs and 1,470 TUEs exports) was handled at the Port.

Edible oil carrier NCC Maha sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships Bulk cargo carrier Eternal Trumph and Chemicals carrier Mid Nature are expected to sail on same day.  Four ships C.V MSC Sao Paulo, M.V Bao An Ling, M.T Sea Ambition and M.T Argent Daisy carrying Containers, 41,835 tonnes Coal, 15,000 tonnes Chemicals and 7,145 tonnes Palm oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2, EVTL and LCT respectively on Wednesday, while M.V Neutrino, C.V MSC Mestine and C.V CMA CGM Indus carrying Coal and Containers are due to arrive at PQ Thursday.
