Four Customs officers return after attending workshop in US

LAHORE: Four Pakistan Customs officers have returned after completing eight-day visit to the United States.

The officers, including Collector Preventive Dr Zulfiqar Chaudhry, Quetta Customs Intelligence Ashraf Ali, Lahore Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Farah Farooq and Deputy Collector Ali Zaib Khan, arrived at Allama Iqbal Airport and also visited Customs offices at the airport.

A group of eleven senior officers of Pakistan Customs Services, including Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Shaukat Ali, recently appointed Hyderabad Collector Ikhlaq Ahmed Khattak, Collector Zulfiqar Ch and Yaqoob Mathew, participated in the four-day training workshop held at Washington DC.

The officials left for the US on April 22 as the workshop was held from April 24 to 27 on the subject of “Counter Proliferation Investigation Method”, organised by the United State Homeland Security.

The purpose of this workshop was to train the Pakistani Customs, especially Customs Intelligence officers, to prevent the smuggling of nuclear materials from Russian states to other countries through Pakistan. Besides training on the counter proliferation, Pakistan needs latest technology to prevent the smuggling of nuclear materials.
