Four men suspected human trafficker arrested in Luton

LUTON: Four men who are suspected of involvement in people smuggling as part of an international organised crime group have been arrested in Luton.

The arrests followed early morning raids at four homes yesterday.

Albert Fikaj, 32, Afrim Sykaj, 41, Qemal Isaj, 35, and Valmir Sokolaj, 28, were apprehended on European Arrest Warrants. The men, who are all Albanian, were taken into custody after appearing at Westminster Magistrates Court.

They face extradition to Belgium for further investigation. A further four men were arrested in Ghent, Belgium, by the Belgian Federal Police, suspected to be part of the same group.

The group is involved in trafficking of illegal immigrants from Albania to the UK for a fee.
