FPCCI trade delegation visits Lebanon

KARACHI: A 28-member trade delegation, comprising prominent members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), invited by Prime Minister of Lebanon, Saad Hariri visited Lebanon from June 13-18.

FPCCI officials sharing details of the visit said the delegation headed by Irfan Sarwana, Vice President of FPCCI included entrepreneurs from different business sectors of the country.

During the visit, the delegation held various high level meetings with the Government Officials and representatives of Business community of Lebanon.

Pakistani delegation also had an exclusive meeting at the Ministry of Economy and Trade with Jacqueline Melhem during which measures to boost trade ties between the two countries were reviewed and discussed.

It was agreed that besides exchange of trade delegation, the two countries could also organize Solo country Trade Exhibitions and develop cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest etc.  The FPCCI delegation signed MoUs with Chambers and Associations in Lebanon namely The Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML); The Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture of Tripoli & North Lebanon; The Association of Lebanon Business People in the World and The Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture – Sidon (South Lebanon).

Leader of the Pakistani delegation Irfan Ahmed Sarwana shared with the Lebanese business community opportunities available in Pakistan for foreign investments.

He particularly referred to sectors as agriculture, capital goods, sports, surgical instruments etc. Prime Minister of Lebanon, Saad Hariri during his meeting with the FPCCI delegation talked about well developed Tourism Industry in Lebanon.

He said it accounts for 10% of the GDP. Prime Minister Hariri also mentioned that Lebanon offers bright prospects in industrial, banking, agriculture and transport sectors.
