FST functioning without legitimate head since November 02, 2015

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Service Tribunal (FST) is functioning without a legitimate head of the body for over a month following the termination of former Chairman, Justice (R) Sheikh Ahmed Farooq’s on November 2, 2015.

The Ministry of Law and Justice has yet not appointed new chairman of the tribunal and thus leaving the body run its functions in absence of a Chairman; which tantamount to violation of Federal Service Tribunal Act (amended), 2014.

Yet in another contradiction with the said act, the Ministry of Law and Justice had also not transferred the charge to the most senior member for the tribunal and the reasons were unknown for such ambiguous conduct of the authorities concerned who were continuously ignoring lawful obligations towards running FST out of lull.

However, the members and staffers of FST are awaiting a positive response by the law ministry in order to keep FST affairs intact by appointing new chairman of the body.
