FTO adjourns hearing of case filed by M/s Emcon Chemical against RTO-II

LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has adjourned the hearing of a case filed by M/s Emcon Chemical (Private) Limited against Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) until the next hearing.

According to the details, Advisor to Federal Tax Ombudsman Tariq Yousaf heard the case in which the counsel for the complainant Muhammad Sabir Asir represented M/s Emcon Chemical Raiwind Road Lahore. The advocate argued that the Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) has fail to make payment of tax refund claims to the company during the last two years.

The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last two years. The petitioners Muhammad Irfan of M/s Emcon Chemical Private Limited Raiwind Road Lahore approached the commissioner concerned in RTO-II many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard by the Regional Tax Office-II.

Eventually, the appellants decided to approach Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to direct the RTO-II Lahore to clear the pending refund claims as early as possible, the counsel argued, adding that the Lahore RTO-II should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) Lahore argued that the RTO-II has ready to settle the case after assessment. After hearing the arguments from both sides the Adviser of Federal Tax Ombudsman Tariq Yousaf adjourned the cases of petitioners Muhammad Irfan of M/s Emcon Chemical Private Limited Raiwind Road Lahore till next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on said date.
