FTO adjourns Shaheen Electric’s case against RTO-II

LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has postponed hearing of a case filed by M/s Shaheen Electric Services Lahore versus Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) until next date of hearing.

According to the details, Adviser to Federal Tax Ombudsman Tariq Yousaf heard the case in which the counsel for the appellant argued that the Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) remained fail to make payment of tax refund claims to the company during the last three years.

The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last three years. The petitioners approached the commissioner concerned in RTO-II many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard by the Regional Tax Office.

At the end, the appellants decided to approach FTO to interfere in this case and direct the RTO-II, Lahore to clear the pending refund claims as early as possible, the counsel argued, adding that the RTO-II should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for Regional Tax Office -II (RTO-II) Lahore argued that the RTO-II has ready to settle the case after assessment, adding that the appellant should submit relevant record against pending refunds.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, Adviser of FTO Tariq Yousaf adjourned the case of M/s Shaheen Electric services Lahore till next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on said date with relevant record.
