KARACHI: A vessel carrying a major fuel consignment for Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has arrived in Karachi, bringing relief amid supply concerns.
According to reports, the ship, MT Khairpur, has anchored at the FOTCO terminal. The vessel, operated by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), is carrying 55,000 metric tons of petrol.
Officials said the arrival of the shipment is expected to significantly stabilize fuel availability across the country. By helping balance supply and demand, the consignment is likely to play a key role in preventing any potential petrol shortage.
Earlier, Iran has granted special permission to two Pakistan-linked vessels to transit the strategic Strait of Hormuz, allowing them to exit the Gulf after being stranded for nearly a month amid escalating regional conflict, shipping sources said.
The vessels — a Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) ship “Multan”, and a chartered tanker “P. Aliki” — successfully crossed the critical waterway and are now en route to Pakistan.
