Gas shortage cripples 2,000 surgical units in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial

SIALKOT: About 2,000 small sized surgical hammering and forging units in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur and surrounding areas have been lying closed here due to daily 18- 20 hours long gas outages.

The nasty situation was crippling the surgical industry of Sialkot, which has become on the verge of collapse, as this nasty situation had become unbearable for the Sialkot based surgical instruments manufactures, venders and exporters in Sialkot. The perturbed Sialkot surgical exporters and manufacturers Muhammad Aslam, Khalid Iqbal, Imran Ali, Nasir Hussain, Muhammad Akram, Ghulam Rasul, Malik Jamil , Ishtiaq Ali, Javaid Iqbal, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Mansur Akhtar and Bashir Hussain said that despite the repeated appeals made by them, the SNGPL has not yet given any relief to the perturbed exporters and traders of Sialkot, as the energy crisis aggregating day by day in Sialkot due to which the industrial wheel has become completely jammed here.

Muhammad Jehangir Bajwa, former Chairman Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan-(SIMAP) has expressed grave concern over the worst situation. He demanded early exemption of Sialkot‘s surgical industry from gas and power outages following its global industrial and economical significance to save the Sialkot surgical industry from collapse.

He revealed that the 2,000 of the small industrial surgical hammering and forging units in and around the Sialkot city had already been closed by the owners due to the non-availability of the gas or the other resources of alternative energy. He said that the hundreds of the thousands of the industrial workers have already been rendered jobless in such critical situation due to gas outages.
