Gawadar Customs foils smuggling attempt, nabs two

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gawadar foiled a smuggling attempt and recovered narcotics. Two accused were nabbed in the said operation.

According to details, Customs Gawadar has seized more than 80 kilogram of narcotics, millions of liter of Iranian diesel and other smuggled items in April 2017. The biggest operation against the Iranian diesel was conducted on April 18, 2017 in which the Customs Collectorate seized 288000 liters Iranian diesel. The customs impounded vehicles carrying registration No: LA-476 & BL-754. The seized diesel is said to be worth Rs17.2 million.

In a recent operation, Assistant Collector Customs Gawadar Kalim Ullah supervised a special team comprising of Inspector Shah Zaman, Rohail Khan and others. The said team raided a house in Pesho Khan area and recovered 15 kilogram fine quality weed. The team also nabbed two accused and registered a case against them.

The seized narcotics (weed) is said to be worth Rs1.5 million.

Meanwhile, the regional tax office (RTO-II) collected Rs46634 million in April. According to Customs Today’s sources at RTO-II, out of the said amount, the RTO-II collected income tax Rs43456 million, Rs2508 million sales tax and Rs670 million federal excise duty (FED) in the above said period.
