ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Additional Collector Shahid Jan has said that the Collectorate surpassed assigned revenue collection targets allocated for first four months of current financial year under all heads while the FBR has revised revenue collection target for financial year 2019-20 with extra amount of Rs1160 million. Talking with Customs Today during an exclusive interview, Shahid Jan said that the Customs Collectorate GB implemented proper examination which improved revenue collection throughout first four months of current FY19-20. He said that during 2018-19, the collectorate cleared more containers but earned less revenue than current financial year, adding that main factor of better performance during current fiscal year is that the collectorate implemented examination in its true spirit and ‘we are getting 50-40 lakhs extra due to implementation of proper examination’. Sharing details of revised assigned revenue collection target for financial year 2019-20, he said that FBR (federal board of revenue) assigned revenue collection target of Rs 3825 million under all heads for year 2019-20 while it revised the said target to Rs 4985 million. Answering a query about revenue performance of October 2019, he said the GB earned Rs 558.398 million under head of CD against assigned revised target of Rs 160 million, adding that the Collectorate showed 349% extra performance against assigned revenue target. He further told that GB earned Rs 583 million under head of ST against assigned target of Rs 190 million, showing 307% extra performance under head of ST against allocated target. He informed that the GB was assigned revenue collection target amounting Rs 53 million under head of WHT while it earned Rs 175 million under same head, showing 328% performance against allocated target under WHT. He said that the GB was allocated revenue collection target of Rs 403 million under head of all duty and taxes for month of October FY2019-20 while it earned Rs 1317 million under same head. The Collectorate showed 326% extra revenue against allocated revenue target under all heads.
