Gepco to spend Rs 20 billion on installation of five new grid stations

SIALKOT: Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) has chalked out a five-year long multi-phased comprehensive  development plan to establish five big grid stations in Gujranwala Division with total estimated cost of Rs. 20 billion, claiming that through the establishment of these new grid stations , establishment of new electrical feeders and laying of the new main transmission and supply lines would be helpful to bring further betterment in electrical supply system of Gepco besides reducing the load of electricity consumption on the system.

According to the Gepco’s Director Development and Planning Junaid Akhtar, the Gepco has sent this plan to Federal Ministry for Water and Power for final approval, saying that this project would be completed within a stipulated period of five years till 2020 with total estimated cost of Rs. 20 billion.

Gepco’s Director Public Relations Rana Muhammad Jehangir added that the Gepco had already selected the suitable lands for establishing five new grid stations at Wahndo, Gondalaanwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Shakargarh and Kot Inayat Khan. He said that these new grid stations would upgrade the existing transmission of the Gepco besides increasing their capacity. He said that Gepco was striving to provide better facilities and to ensure the uninterrupted supply of the electricity to all of its customers
