German envoy seeks strengthened trade ties with Pakistan

SIALKOT: The Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan Ms Ina Lepel has stressed the need for promoting and strengthening of trade ties between Pakistan and Germany.

Talking to the exporters during her visit to leading industrial units in Sialkot, she  pledged to make all out efforts to ensure easy access of Sialkot exporters to European Union (EU), enabling them to explore and capture the EU and German markets. She said that the Sialkot exporters have enough potential to do so.

The German ambassador said that Germany is intending to boost trade with Pakistan besides making all out efforts to remove hurdles from the way of smooth promotion and strengthening of the mutual trade between Pakistan and Germany.

Later, addressing an important meeting held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the German ambassador said that both Pakistan and Germany have been enjoying good friendly and cordial trade relations and now the time was ripe to further strengthening mutual trade, as all the things were moving toward the right direction.

SCCI President Maj (r) Mansur Ahmed, SVP Muhamamd Sarfraz Butt, VP Ehtesham Mazhar Gillani, Chairman Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) Khawar Anwar Khawaja, Dr. Mariyam Nouman and representatives of the other main trade bodies were also present on this occasion.

Germany ambassador disclosed the mutual trade delegations will visit Pakistan and Germany in the beginning of 2016. She said that the GSP Plus status has helped Pakistan a lot to improve its trade and economy.

He revealed that both Pakistan and Germany have always enjoyed cordial relations based on mutual trust and confidence in each other’s expertise. Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Germany is stable and volume of trade between the two countries is over US $ 2.2 (B).

He highly hailed the relations between the Sialkot Chamber and the German Embassy have always been close and most cordial. Both have cooperated and extended support to each other for mutual benefit. We look forward to enhance this cooperation to create more opportunities of bilateral trade and interpersonal relations, he added.
