GILGIT BALTISTAN: Collectorate of Customs Gilgit-Baltistan Additional Collector Shahid Jan said that trade activity at Gilgit Baltistan could only be converted into round-the-year operations if roads are not blocked due to ice. Talking with Customs Today, he said that current season will end on 30th November 2019 when border would be closed, adding that it’s a gigantic task to continue work during snow season. He said that this trade can only be converted into round-the-year activity if road at Khunjerab top is cleared and managed properly whole of the year. Answering a query, he said that this seasonal trade is good for both China and Pakistan as well as local economy. Talking on revenue performance, he said that revenue has been revised however  during initial five months (July to November) Customs Collectorate  Gilgit Baltistan exceeded against the assigned revenue collection target for current financial year 2019-20. Providing revenue performance details of month of November FY19-20, he said that during first 23 days of November, the Collectorate of GB earned extra Rs 676 million against assigned revenue target under all heads comprising ST (sales tax), CD (customs duty) and WHT (withholding tax) with percentage of 267.35 percent. He said that the Collectortate was assigned Rs 404.1 million for month of November while the GB earned Rs 1080.357 million under all heads in 23 days, adding that the Collectorate was assigned revised revenue collection target under head of CD amounting Rs 160 million while it earned Rs 434.351 million CD during initial 23 days of current month with 271.47% against assigned target. Shahid Jan told that the the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) assigned Rs 191 million revenue target under head of ST whereas the Collectorate of GB earned Rs 497.199 million during 23 days, adding that the GB showed 260.31% extra performance against assigned target under same head. Telling the details of WTH, he said that during month of November 19-20, the GB was allocated 53.1 million revenue target under WHT while till 23rd November the GB earned two times extra revenue against assigned target with collection of Rs 148.807 million, adding that the GB showed 280.24% extra performance under same head during 23 days of November. He said that all this happened due to continuous guidance of Member Customs Dr Jawwad Agha and Collector MCC GB as well as Chief Collector North.
