Godavari police seize 818kg ganja worth Rs 8 lakh

VISAKHAPATNAM: The East Godavari police seized 818 kg ganja worth Rs 8 lakh and arrested four smugglers while they were transporting the contraband from Visakha Agency on Monday. The police also recovered Rs 1 lakh from them. Two four-wheelers and a two-wheeler were also seized from the smugglers. The arrested were identified as Ganta Srinu of Korukonda mandal of East Godavari, G Veera Venkata Raju of Rajanagaram in East Godavari and D Lovaraju and S Suribabu of Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district. They were transporting the ganja from Chitrakonda hills in Narsipatnam agency of the district to Chennai.

Prattipadu police led by circle inspector G Satyannarayana arrested the four while conducting vehicle checks on National Highway-16.
