Gold smuggling: Customs Court to hear final arguments on Aug 19

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has fixed August 19, 2016 as a date for final arguments in a case of attempting to smuggle 3,966.7 grams of gold jewellery from Dubai to Pakistan against Sohail Moosa son of Muhammad Moosa.

According to the prosecution, on July 11, 2013 at about 11:40 hours Senior Preventive Officer SM Miswar-ur-Islam, intercepted the accused at International Arrival Hall of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. The suspect had arrived from Dubai on Emirates Airlines flight No EK-600 and he was about to leave from customs clearance.

During examination of his baggage, the official recovered gold jewellery, which he attempted to smuggle into Pakistan. The Accused committed an offence punishable under Section 156 ( 1 ) ( 8 ) ( 9 ) & ( 14 ) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Customs Court already had rejected the bail application of accused Sohail Moosa vide order dated October 24, 2016.
