NEW DELHI: Google revealed that it has started the Lollipop update roll-out for Android One phones – Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno in the Indian market. The update is being released on a weekly basis, so not everyone will get it right-away.

“We’ve already started rolling out Lollipop to a small number of phones in India. This is a gradual process and so each week we’ll push the OTA update to more phones selected at random (pro-tip: connecting over WiFi will increase your odds),” noted Google’s Caesar Sengupta in a post on Google+.

Although Sengupta has not explicitly mentioned Android 5.1 in his post, the OTA update is expected to be the same as all new Android One smartphones released in Indonesia and Philippines recently, run on Android 5.1 and pack the same hardware as the Indian Android One smartphones.

The official change-log is not available at this point, but you can expect to see material design changes, ART as default runtime, enhanced notifications, tweaked user-interface, performance & stability improvements and more.
