Govt decides to establish Customs Border Security Force

KARACHI: The federal government has decided to establish Customs Boarder Security Force (CBSF) to curb billions of rupees daily smuggling from boarders of Iran and Afghanistan.

The decision came after the meeting of National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization held recently under the chairmanship of Senator Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh.

During a briefing to the committee, it was revealed that huge corruption is detected due under invoicing and tyres, cloths, cosmetics, electronics items, mobile phones and other items are smuggled by the border very easily. It was also brought to the notice of the participants that more than 5,ooo animals are smuggled to Iran from Quetta on the daily basis.

To curb smuggling, the government has now decided to establish Custom Boarder Security Force consisting of 1000 personnel.
