ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to establish a Land Port Authority to curb smuggling and document the transit trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, it is learnt here.
According to sources, two offices on two entry points on the Pak-Afghan border will be established which will collect data of every activity relating the to trade through biometric system.
The summary for establishment of the Land Port Authority will be forwarded to parliament for approval as the homework is almost completed in this regard.
Sources added that trade activities are increased due to transit trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan however, no duty and taxes are imposed on transit trade.
