Govt, FBR to introduce ‘transparent marketing system’: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar has completely ruled out the idea of privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC).

Talking with media persons, he said, “We are not planning to privatize PIA , Pakistan Steel Mills and other government institutions rather all-out efforts would be made to enhance efficiency in various institutions.

Replying to a question, the minister said the present government is introducing ‘transparent marketing system’ with the help of Federal Board of Revenue and other stakeholders.

Replying to another question about loan from IMF, he said the previous governments had also borrowed loans from the IMF. Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umer said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would take steps to boost exports, adding that steps had been taken to bring improvement in various sectors.

Asad Umer said the textile sector would also be given special attention so that due results could be achieved. Subsidy amounting to Rs.7 billion was given to promote agriculture sector besides enhancing the efficiency of farmer community, he added.
