Haroon Akhtar ensured the delegation that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will not harass tax payers in the name of tax collection. However, he emphasised that traders should show compliance and must update their accounts. He said that the real estate is a Rs 6000 billion industry.

The government took the initiative and revised the deputy commissioner rate (DC rate) so that this industry can flourish in letter and spirit. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will not harass tax payers in the name of tax collection. However, he emphasised that traders should show compliance and must update their accounts.

He urged government to provide incentives to increase the tax net rather extracting juice from the existing tax payers. He suggested that local chamber membership should be made compulsory for starting up new business set up. This will help in two ways, one broadening the tax net and other documenting the economy, he added.
