Govt to facilitate innovators in agriculture sector: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held meeting with the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan and Rana Tanveer Hussain the Minister for Defense Production, both representing the agriculture community of the country.

During the meeting, the suggestions put forward by the legislators and other stake holders were discussed. The minister said that, ‘the federal government has facilitated the farmers in the past by taking decisions like providing subsidies on sugar, wheat and agricultural tube wells’.

In the future also whatever will be possible for the government to provide relief to the agriculture sector will be done with the utmost sincerity even though agriculture has been a provincial subject, he added.

In this budget we are taking measures to boost agricultural production in the country. We are also ready to facilitate those who want to invest and bring new or improved technology for the sector, he added. The minister reiterated that most of the suggestions put forward by the parliamentarians and the representatives of the agriculturists shall be considered keeping in view the feasibility and fiscal space available in the budget.

The meeting was participated by Secretary Finance, Dr. Waqar Masood, Secretary NF and S, Seerat Asghar, Chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa, SA to Finance Minister Tariq Pasha and senior members of the Finance Division.
