Govt to offer relief in new trade policy for economic growth: Dastgir

GUJRANWALA: Federal Minister for Commerce Engr Khurram Dastgir on Saturday said the federal government would offer relief package to business community through a new trade policy for accelerating the pace of economic growth in the country.

Speaking as chief guest at a luncheon hosted by United Business Group and Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said that on the special directive of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, a number of new power plants were being commissioned in different parts of the country on war-footings to meet the ever increasing energy needs of business community.

He said that inflation rate was reduced to 2.5 per cent from January last till today due to sincere efforts and prudent economic policies being pursued by the federal government. He said that 46 billion dollar huge investment by China in different sectors especially in power would also step up economic activities.

He said that in new trade policies, all stakeholders would be taken into confidence including Vice President SAARC Chamber and Chairman United Business Group Iftikhar Ali Malik and Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that it was first time in the history that private sector was being accorded priority in all policy formulation process.

Khurram Dastgir said that recommendations and proposals of the PFCCI would be given importance while framing and finalization of new trade policy. He said that overhead in city has also been completed and made functional while medical college has also been established by the PML government.

Chief Executive Trade Development Authority Pakistan, S.M.Munir speaking on the occasion said that authority would facilitate all exporters for holding single country expo the world over.  He said that authority would leave no stone unturned to promote and encourage Pak exporters in taking part in expo in foreign countries.

Vice President SAARC Chamber and Chairman United Business Group Iftikhar Ali Malik addressing the participants said that entire business community pinned high hopes on the elected government of Pakistan Muslim League led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that first time; Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had given more than 50 per cent representation to private sector in high level advisory committee of Planning Commission chaired by him.

President FPCCI Muhammad Adrees said that all affiliated chambers were being taken into confidence while framing recommendations to be forwarded to different ministries and their problems were being highlighted at relevant forum for prompt solution.

President Gujranwala Chamber Khawaja Khalid Hassan and other trade leaders also spoke on the occasion. Vice President of FPCCI Hameed Akhtar Chadda,Khawaja Zarrar,Zubair Tufail and others were present on the occasion besides a large number of city traders and chamber office bearers.
