Gujranwala Customs Intelligence impounds vehicles, goods worth Rs 6.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala impounded a truck laden with various smuggled items worth Rs 3.5 million and also impounded non-duty paid two vehicles worth Rs 3 million.

Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Zainab Mehmood deployed Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Anwar and his team on Grand Trunk Road to check vehicles in order to curb smuggling.

The team intercepted a truck which was coming from Peshawar and going to Lahore. The officials checked truck and recovered various items, including pad locks, spare parts, sprays, etc.

In another action, the officials impounded two vehicles, Toyota Matrix bearing Registration No BCT- 480 and Toyota Hilux Surf bearing Registration No FSA-3590 worth Rs 3 million.

These vehicles were playing on road without payment of customs duty. The team shifted the truck with loaded items and vehicles to Customs House, while drivers have been released after initial interrogation.
