Gujranwala Customs Intelligence launches operation against smuggled Iranian fuel

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala has launched a campaign against fuel shopkeepers and fuel pumps involved in selling of smuggled Iranian fuel i.e. petrol, diesel, etc.

A team of Customs Intelligence has been made under the supervision of Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi, comprising Investigation Officers Mian Muhammad Yousaf, Majid Raza and Saad Iqbal.

The team raided many fuel kiosks and fuel pumps in order to check the selling of smuggled fuel, besides directing the persons concerned not to indulge in illegal activities. They were also warned of stern action on founding involved in illegal business. The officials have not recovered Iranian smuggled fuel from shops and pumps during the raids.

Investigation Officer Majid Raza told Custom Today that the Iranian fuel, especially diesel is being sold in local markets, adding that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has strictly instructed Customs Intelligence and Investigation to take action in order to curb the menace.

He further said that raids will be continued in the region, adding that such measures will bring fruitful results saving the national economy.
