SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala Region has confiscated non-duty paid Iranian cloth worthRs75,000 from Wazirabad.
The Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi formed a team under the supervision of Investigation Officer/Inspector Nasar Ullah to check vehicles on Grand Trunk (GT) Road to curb smuggling. The said Investigation Officer started the checking of vehicle along with his team comprising constables Boota, Riasat, Sajid Raza, Mubashir etc.
During the checking of vehicles on GT Road near Wazirabad the team intercepted a van which was coming from Peshawar and going to Lahore. During the search of the van the team recovered some Iranian Cloth worth Rs75,000. The team asked driver Gul Habib about booking documents of cloth but was failed to produce booking documents. The driver said that these fabrics were loaded from Van stand Peshawar and I don’t know about any documents. The team confiscated said cloth and shifted cloth in the store of department. The team released driver with van after proper interrogation whereas team has registered a case against Manager of Van Stand. The team case will refer to Adjudication court for proceeding after proceeding the department will liable to auction of cloth if the learned court will announce judgment in favor of department.
