Gujranwala RTO fails to achieve tax collection target for May

SIALKOT: The Regional Tax Office in Gujranwala has failed to achieve the amended tax collection target of Rs 1.5 billion fixed by the Federal Board of Revenue  for the month of May 2015.

According to the FBR officials concerned, the Regional Tax Office could collect Rs 1.4 billion, including Rs 770 million as sales tax and Rs 630 million as income tax, until May 2015.

Earlier, the FBR had given a tax collection target of Rs 1.25 billion for ensuring tax collection from the local taxpayers, but later this recovery target was raised to Rs 1.50 billion. The FBR officials also froze the bank accounts of a number of tax defaulters.
