Gwadar Customs foils bid to smuggle 200 bottles of wine, arrested three suspects

GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate of Gwadar team has seized 200 bottles of wines worth Rs 1.6 million during search of a vehicle. In another raid, the Customs Collectorate team foiled an attempt to smuggle non-duty paid chassis of luxury vehicles worth Rs 2.6 million.

According to details, on a tip-off regarding possible smuggling of wine in Jewani area, Deputy Collector Gawadar Asadullah Larik constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Abrar Khanzada.

The team, during a search operation in Jewani area, intercepted a truck bearing registration number: HSG-544 Hyderabad, which was going  from Gwadar to Mirpurkhas. During the search, the customs team found 200 bottles of wines worth Rs 1.6 million and four chassis of luxury worth Rs 2.6 million.

The team seized all bottles of wines and chassis and arrested three smugglers who were later identified as driver Inayat, Kaleem and Sohrab. Sources said that the total market value of seized smuggle items is Rs 4.2 million in international market.

Customs team after registering an FIR against the accused persons started investigations. Sources said this is the four raid during the month of September.
