Gwadar Customs foils smuggling bid, seizes narcotics worth Rs 37.7m

KARACHI: Gwadar Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle 466 kilogramme hashish and narcotics worth Rs 37.7 million.

According to Gwadar Collector Saeed Akram, he had a tipoff that narcotics are being smuggled from Afghanistan to Karachi via RCD Highway on a mini truck for its further transportation abroad.

The Collector directed Additional Collector Junaid Ahmed Memon to form a raiding team to thwart the smuggling bid. The team, under supervision of Assistant Collector Kaleemullah, stopped a vehicle at Khurkhera. The vehicle was apparently loaded with crates of rotten fruits. The team after thorough search of the vehicle found 466kg high-quality hashish and arrested two suspected smugglers and seized the vehicle worth Rs 2.5 million as well.
