Gwadar Customs impounds electronics goods, hashish worth Rs10.50m

GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate seized electronics goods consignment and hashish worth Rs10.50 million including vehicle being used in smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today that on Monday morning that Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood received secret information through a phone call that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non duty electronics items include laptop computer systems, motherboard, LED TVs, air conditioners, charging fans and so many other things from Gwadar to Karachi.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Saleem Ahmed, Mukhtar Waseem and others. The team, during a search operation on Bur area, intercepted a truck bearing registration no: LBS-8301.

During a search, the team impounded more than 50 laptop non duty paid systems, 500 imported motherboards, 5000 RAM, 50 LED TVs, 20 air conditioners and 10 kilogram of hashish valued at Rs 10.50 million including truck used in smuggling.

The team seized all electronics items, hashish and arrested truck driver, who were later identified Zaman Banori. . Arrested person said in initial investigation I was carried this goods to Hyderabad and then Karachi.

Sources told that customs official started investigation from accused person, Case will be register after investigation. Source told that this was the 8th raid of Gwadar customs during the month of July.
