Gwadar Customs recovers huge quantity of liquor, narcotics

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Gwadar seized 300 bottles of foreign origin liquor and arrested three accused persons during a crackdown. While during another crackdown the customs team recovered 800 kilograms of hashish.

Sources of Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Customs Saeed Akram received information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle a huge quantity of narcotics outside Gwadar. He directed deputy collector to constitute different teams to thwart these smuggling attempts.

A Customs team intercepted a launch in Jeewani area and during checking recovered 300 bottles of foreign origin liquor. The Customs team seized the liquor and arrested the persons who were involved in transportation of liquor. It is necessary to mention here that prior to this eight members of the same gang are also in custody in connection with smuggling.

During another crackdown anti smuggling organisation of Gwadar during routine checking intercepted a truck and reovered 400 packets of hashish. The net weight of seized hashish is 800 kilograms. The hashish were hidden in the secret part of truck and the same was being transported to other cities for supply to drug peddlers.

Sources said that market value of seized narcotics is in million of rupees. Customs team also impounded the truck in which these narcotics were being smuggled. Customs team after registering separate cases of narcotics smuggling started further interrogations in this regard.
