Gwadar Customs recovers huge quantity of narcotics, Iranian grease

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar recovered a huge quantity of narcotics and non-duty paid Iranian grease during different crackdowns.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Saeed Akram received secret information about some smuggling attempts. He summoned deputy collector and directed him to enhance checking in the area to foil these attempts.

A customs team started checking of vehicles at Angori Ada. The team intercepted a truck which was loaded with sacks of wheat and rice. During tje checking of the truck, the customs team recovered 500 kilograms of fine quality hashish, two kilograms of opium and one kilogram of heroin.

Customs team arrested the driver of truck who was identified as Idrees Khan and started investigations after registering a case of narcotics smuggling against him. The market value of seized narcotics is Rs6million.

During another crackdown in Chagi customs team recovered 500 tins of Iranian grease. Sources said that cusoms authorities received information that huge quantity of smuggled Iranian grease tins are being unloaded from a vehicle after which customs team formed a raiding team. The team raided a godown situated in Pishin area and recovered 500 tins of Iranian grease. No accused person was present at the time of raid.

It is necessary to mention here that during first fifteen days of June customs authorities seized smuggled goods worth Rs 44.5millon. Collector Gwadar Customs Saeed Akram directed his team to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region. During different operations customs team seized 42,000 liters of Iranian diesel, 12,000 liters of Iranian petrol, 3,000 kilograms of hashish, 4 kilograms of opium, 3 kilograms of heroin, 500 bottles of liquor, Iranian grease, Indian gutkha, 10 non-duty paid air conditioners, two non-duty paid heavy generators one non-duty paid Mazda, bus and a truck.
