Gwadar Customs recovers smuggled liquor, vehicle engines in two operations

KARACHI: The Gwadar Customs has recovered a huge quantity of foreign origin alcohol and seized 12 engines of luxury vehicles in separate raids.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that some smugglers were planning to smuggle a huge quantity of foreign origin liquor outside Gwadar area. He instructed the deputy collector to use all available means to foil this attempt. The deputy collector constituted a team comprising Inspector Nauman Ali Shah, Inspector Khalid Rahim, Inspector Nasir Hussain and others. The team raided a house located in Kabli area of Gwadar and recovered 300 bottles of foreign origin liquor. The Customs team also arrested four suspects who were present at the time of raid.

The arrested persons told customs team that they were going to smuggle this liquor to other cities of the country. During another action, the Customs team recovered 12 engines of luxury vehicles from a 20-feet large container. The suspects, who were boarded the container, failed to produce any relevant documents regarding possession and transportation of the engines. The team seized the engine and registered a case of smuggling against the suspects.
