Gwadar Customs seizes 78kg hashish worth Rs 4.6m

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Gwadar has foiled a bid to smuggle some 78 kilograms of high quality hashish worth Rs 4.6 million on RCD Highway.

According to the details, on a tip off, received from Collector Saeed Akram that 78 kg of foreign origin narcotics will be smuggled from Afghanistan through Quetta on RCD highway to Karachi and then abroad.

Collector Saeed Akram constituted a team in the supervision of Additional Collector Junaid Ahmed Memon and Deputy Collector Aftabullah Shah to fail the attempt of smuggling.

The team comprised Preventive Superintendent Muhammad Saleem and staff of the mobile squad Khurkhera, Custom House Gaddani.

The team held a picket at the Khurkhera and intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No TKA 184. Though the vehicle was empty, on suspicious the same was thoroughly searched and during checking the customs staff recovered charas 78 kilograms valuing Rs 4,680,000, which was concealed in the upper body in the said vehicle.

Therefore, the vehicle has been impounded and two accused namely as Gehram Khan son of Rehyan and Nazir Ahmed son of Raheem Dad have been arrested and FIR has been lodged under Section 6, 7, 8 and 9(c) CNSA 1997. Further investigations are underway.
