Gwadar Customs seizes huge quantity of narcotics, foreign currency

KARACHI: The Customs Gwadar authorities recovered a huge quantity of foreign currency during a crackdown in Dadigor area.

Sources told Customs Today that customs Gwadar authorities also arrested six suspects and registered a case of smuggling against them.

Sources said that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that smugglers are planning to smuggle a huge quantity of foreign currency. He immediately summoned deputy collector and constituted a raiding team comprising Sarfraz Junejo, Inspector Shah Khan others. The ASO team established various checking points in the jurisdiction of Dadigor area. During the checking of vehicles, the ASO team intercepted a vehicle and recovered 500,000 US dollars and 300,000 Canadian dollars. The ASO team seized all the currency and arrested the suspects who were boarded on a vehicle.

Sources said that during another operation ASO team recovered huge quantity of narcotics. Sources said that ASO team was on their routine checking at road during which they intercepted a passenger bus. During checking ASO team recovered 1 kilogram of fine quality heroin and 500 grams of ephedrine, 10 kilograms of fine quality hashish. All these narcotics were hidden in the secret part of the passenger bus. No one turned to claim the ownership of these narcotics.

ASO team asked all the passengers to come down from the bus. While on the other hand both driver and conductor of the bus failed to provide any relevant documents regarding possession of vehicle. After their failure ASO team impounded the vehicle due to its involvement in transportation of narcotics. Customs team also seized the narcotics arrested both driver and conductor and registered a case of smuggling against them.
