Haroon, Irshad laud performance of DG Customs Intelligence during February

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue has surpassed all previous records of achievements in a single month by seizing non duty paid goods and vehicle worth Rs3,882.62 million.

According to the details, during the month of February 2017 Directorate General I&I  has seized miscellaneous goods amounting to Rs1,132.62 million, detected evasion of duty and taxes cases worth Rs2,749.94 million and lodged 20 FIRs. Sources said that during the month of February 2016,Directorate General (I&I) had seized the different goods worth Rs748.99 million and detected evasion of duty and taxes Rs. 63.67 million.

These figures showed that Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations showed outstanding performance during the month of February 2017 as compared with the performance of previous year.

It is necessary to mention here that this is best ever performance showed by the Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations in a single month Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Dr. Muhammad Irshad has lauded the performance of the Directorate and held it exemplary for other departments.

According to the FBR sources, Director General I&I Shaukat Ali has submit the monthly performance report to the chairman FBR with due sense of pride. According to this report Director General Shaukat Ali has said that, major contributors to the afore-stated outstanding performance were Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar Directorates.

However, the Lahore Directorate (due to the fearless operations conducted by Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan and personally supervised by Director Zeba Hai Azhar) stood out in terms of volume and importance of seizures and detections. The case of M/s Marush International, the first of its kind detected by any field formation of FBR in terms of unearthing of evidences on money laundering, was affected by director, Lahore and her team which deserves to be duly appreciated as the same has brought lot of good name to FBR as well as the Directorate General. She, along with her team also detected evasion of an amount of Rs. 2531.49 million against the above mentioned importer.
