KARACHI:  Reports are circulating that huge irregularities are found during auction process of seized consignments at Port Mohammad Bin Qasim.

Sources told Customs Today that the appraiser and deputy collector of Port Mohammad Bin Qasim are allegedly involved in selling seized items to their favorite persons at throwaway prices. Due to this, they caused losses to the tune of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Sources further revealed that schedule of auction is not being displayed at the FBR website. Instead, only favorite persons are invited to the auction and only those items are offered to public which were disliked by these people. Sources said this practice is going on from the last three to four years, but the situation is still the same.

People appealed to higher customs authorities to interfere in this matter and stop this practice as these practices are causing a huge loss to national kitty.
